PerkinElmer’s family of XRD 16-inch (41 cm) amorphous silicon (a-Si) X-ray Flat Panel Detectors (FPDs) produce a high throughput and frame rates while maintaining an industry-leading 16-bit contrast resolution and the ability to perform real-time digital x-ray imaging. The detectors’ radiation-hardened design allows them to perform in harsh environments, making them the ideal choice for medical, veterinary and 24/7 NDT applications. They offer a pixel size of 200 or 400 μm, an image size of 2048 x 2048 pixels and a frame rate up to 30 fps with a 2 x 2 binning.
Two models of XRD 16 inch FPDs are available: the XRD 1622 and XRD 1621. Both provide energy ranges from 20KV – 15MV and offer a selection of speed, scintillator, filter, charge amplification and frame rate options.
XRD 1622
The XRD 1622 is newest addition to the XRD family of 16-inch detectors. It has a more compact design and lighter weight than previous models. Two versions of the XRD 1622 are available: The XRD 1622 AO which provides over 74 dB of dynamic range and 1 frame per second (fps) and the enhanced performance XRD 1622 AP which offers over 87 dB of dynamic range and frame rates up to 4 fps via multiple read-out modes.
Rapid system integration is accomplished via Gigabit Ethernet data communication, integrated trigger and sync circuitry for X-ray control and a comprehensive software library for image acquisition and processing.
XRD 1621
The XRD 1621 N ES FPDs provide an industry leading 16-bit contrast resolution, a dynamic range up to 80 dB, and frame rates up to 30 frames per second.
They are connected to a frame grabber with a customized glass fiber optical interface. This robust glass fiber interface provides galvanic isolation between detector and frame grabber. IP68 water proof connectors are used at the detector and both ends of extension cables. The frame grabber provides an FPGA and 256 MB RAM to perform on-board corrections including Multiple Gain Correction at up to 10 signal levels.
