Newborn Screening Gets Animated

Only a third of the world's newborns are screened for genetic disorders within the first few days of life. One reason why is because many expectant parents are unaware of it and how simple it is to test newborns for more than 30 metabolic disorders.

To help drive home just how easy it is to have your newborn screened, PerkinElmer has launched an animated video in hopes of getting that message out to an even broader global audience. Conveyed in a 3-minute animation, it stars a young couple and their cute-as-a-button newborn.  It shows how simple it is have your newborn screened with a simple heel-prick blood test. The animation is cute, informative, and makes an engaging statement on the ease and benefits of newborn screening tested in the first few days of life that could well help to avert a lifetime of regret.
